The Role of the Reviewer in the Peer Review Process
A manuscript submitted for publication in a scholarly journal is usually reviewed by 2 or 3 reviewers selected by the editor and/or indicated by the author in a traditional peer review model. A reviewer is generally an academic who write reports to help authors to improve their manuscripts and to assist the editor with making the decision to accept or reject a manuscript. In this workshop, participants will learn about the role and the non-role of the reviewer in the peer review process in contrast to the roles of authors and editors. Participants will be invited to peer review some examples of reviewer’s reports.
Audience: Undergraduate students, graduate students, editors, faculty members, and the community.
