Introduction to MAXQDA

MAXQDA is a robust software for analyzing qualitative data, including text, media, and survey data. MAXQDA is available for free to all campus users via Illinois Computes. This workshop is the first in a three-part series on using MAXQDA for analyzing qualitative data and does not assume any previous knowledge of MAXQDA. You may find it helpful to use the materials from the Planning Qualitative Analysis workshop to think about strategies relevant to your own research project.

By the end of this workshop, we hope you'll be able to:
1) Access the Illinois license for MAXQDA
2) Create a new project file
3) Add text, survey, and media data to your project file.
4) Organize data files for analytic purposes.
5) Begin building a coding system in MAXQDA
6) Apply codes to data in your project file.

This workshop will be in-person in Library 314 and will not be recorded. An online version of this workshop will be offered on Friday, September 19, which will be recorded and made available online at the Qualitative Data Analysis research guide. Anyone who registers for the in-person or online version of this workshop will receive an email with a link to the recording and slides.

If you have specific questions you'd like to see addressed in the workshop, please indicate those on the registration form or contact Jess Hagman (jhagman@illinois.edu).
