Archer: User-friendly Access to Data Extracted from Millions of News Articles from 1945 to Present
The Cline Center for Advanced Social Research is pleased to provide researcher and librarian access to Archer, a prototype interface that enables users to query, visualize, and download data extracted from more than 120 million news stories (1945-present). Users can develop complex Boolean queries, download metadata, extracted entities, and sentiment scores. Behind Archer’s user-friendly interface, the Cline Center Global News Index contains data from stories published in major US newspapers, international newswires, translated media, and more than 6,000 websites around the world. This workshop will provide background on Archer and an introduction to its use in research applications.
